3rd Grade Literacy

Welcome to 3rd grade! I am thrilled to be your teacher this year, and I know we will have a terrific time together developing as readers and writers. I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember. As a child I often wrote stories and poems, and often fell asleep with a stack of books in my bed!
One of the things I am most excited about this year is learning more about you, my students, through your writing. I hope you'll discover that writing is a wonderful way to explain your thinking, express your feelings, tell stories about your life, or teach others about a topic you are an expert on.
In addition, I can't wait to hear about the books you're reading! Reading is a fantastic way to learn about topics and people that interest you, escape into another person's life or another time period, understand something that puzzles you, or just relax!
I was born in Denver and grew up close to Steck. I attended local schools, including East High School, and studied Elementary Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. This is my sixth year teaching third grade at Steck. I also completed my student teaching here and began my career as a substitute teacher and paraeducator. My family has lived in Colorado for six generations, so I am fascinated by Colorado history. For fun I love to read, cook, walk my dog, Jellybean, see movies, and spend time with my husband and family. If I weren't a teacher, I would love to be a baker or artist!
