Bring Treats for Birthday Celebration

Our birthday party coordinator will be in touch with parents each month to organize treats. We typically celebrate on the last Friday of each month at 2:30 p.m. on the south playground. Please contact Mrs. McRae or Mrs. Gould if you have any questions.

Help in the Classroom
If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, we welcome you and truly have an open-door policy! Over the years, we've found that it works best when you let us know a specific time you'd like to volunteer. This could be a regular commitment, or just whenever you have some free time! In order to establish our classroom community and routines with minimal disruption, we do ask that parents wait until October to begin coming in. Thank you!

Here is a general overview of some of the classroom volunteer tasks we typically need help with:

1. Help a Writer--join us during independent writing time to provide a listening ear for students as they work through the writing cycle. This might include helping brainstorm ideas, organizing plans, talking through a first draft, or providing a listening ear and advice for revision and editing. Needed Monday-Thursday.

2. Help a Reader--join us during independent reading time to enrich students' reading comprehension by discussing texts together and investigating why the author might have written the piece, what characters are like, identify problem and solution, and how we can gather clues for all of these from the text. Needed Monday-Thursday.

3. Grade Math Masters- twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). A volunteer would be needed for the morning group and for the afternoon group. This is something that can be completed at home- great for the parent who can't always spend time in the classroom.

4. Clerical Duties- Make copies, hang or remove student work, cut construction paper, grade papers, etc.
