Readers Workshop

Reading is taught in a workshop format where we introduce and discuss strategies that help our students become stronger readers. The students are taught specific skills and genres in whole group, small group, and individual settings.

Every day third graders read independently using "just right" books for them in class. Challenge books may be read at home with your support for comprehension. These challenge books can also apply towards "million word" reading goals. Students will be asked to respond to their reading both at home and in school by making meaningful connections to text - often in writing.
