Steck and Third Grade Guidelines

  • Attendance- Please help your child be in school every day that he/she is well enough to attend. Third grade is a busy year, and we have a lot to learn! However, if your child is sick please notify the school by phoning the school attendance line at 720-424-3884. Per DPS policy, family vacations are not considered an excused absence.

  • Checkout - If you need to check your child out from school before our school day is finished, you will need to do so at the office. If someone other than you will be picking your child up at the end of the day (even another trusted parent), please notify us beforehand.

  • Discipline-Each third grade classroom has an agreed-upon list of classroom expectations for all students to succeed academically and socially. This includes guidelines, routines, and a curriculum that keeps students engaged. Students must respect the expectations created. If these expectations are not met after three warnings/redirections, the student will leave the room to think about their actions using a Student Think Sheet. Three ST sheets result in a conference with parents and a referral to the office (all referrals documented in Infinite Campus).

  • Labeling - Please put your child’s name on all coats, backpacks, book bags, gloves, scarves, etc. This keeps items from getting lost or ending up in the lost-and-found!
  • Friday Folders -Graded work, student projects, and school-related communication comes home each week in Friday folders. Please be sure to also check the Steck eNewsletter every Friday for school and grade level information. Important information is also posted outside of the school office.
  • Birthdays- Birthdays are celebrated on the last Friday of most months at 2:30. Our wonderful birthday party coordinator will help to connect parents each month to organize the celebration. Some past celebration examples are game time or recess. Birthday snacks can be included, the healthier the better. We do have nut allergies (to all nuts), so please make sure the treat is nut free.
